DISCUSS (The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgeraldas)

Argument Research Paper General Guidelines For the research paper assignment, you will focus on an aspect of your chosen novel (The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgeraldas) the focus of your research for this argument research paper. This paper is going to focus on a central topic of your novel. What argument is the author presenting through his or her writing? How do one or more conflicts in the novel support this argument? Keep in mind that the purpose of your paper is to focus on an argument that the author has presented through the characters in the book. Although you will be referencing the argument and characters, the focus of your paper will be on that argument. You must use quotes from the novel to support your points. Requirements Your finished papers should adhere to the following minimum requirements: • 1,500-word scope • One primary source (novel) • No less than three credible, academic secondary sources (research) • Correct use of in-text documentation and Works Cited page (MLA format) Since this is a research paper, the majority of your paper must be based on research and not personal thoughts. Your paper should be focused on the topic and not written using narrative style. You must use reliable, academic sources for your paper. Sources such as Wikipedia, Goodreads, Shmoop, Cliff’s Notes, Sparks Notes, eNotes, and personal blogs are not appropriate. You should be able to find some critical sources from the online library databases. Critical sources that you find online should be from previously published articles in a reputable magazine, journal, or newspaper, and can be found in an academic database. The importance of a careful, methodical writing process should not be underestimated here. If your research paper is not solidly grounded in each of these steps, your final product will be inadequate.
