This week, you will complete the first part of the methods section for the Research Design Proposal. The methods section is the step-by-step description of what the research question or hypothesis is, how the data will be collected, and how that data will be analyzed to support the research question or hypothesis. You must use at least one scholarly source, as outlined in the Scholarly, Peer-Reviewed, and Other Credible SourcesLinks to an external site. table, in addition to the course text.

This section of the proposal should have the following sections:

  • Research Question or Hypothesis: The research question(s) is(are) the question(s) the research study wants to answer. There can be more than one research question in quantitative studies. A hypothesis is not a question but rather a statement about the relationship between two or more variables. To develop a hypothesis, you need the variables, the population, and the relationship between the variables. In this section of your paper,
    • Create your research question(s) or hypothesis(es) for your research study, and
    • Provide the rationale.

  • Data Type: In this section of your paper,
    • Describe the statistical techniques to be used to analyze the data.
    • Determine whether the data is primary or secondary.
    • Provide a rationale for your specific data analysis decisions.
    • Cite at least one peer-reviewed source on the chosen analysis technique.
