As a medical professor, it is important to provide college assignments and lectures that incorporate theoretical frameworks and models that are applicable to the profession of nursing. In this four-page scholarly paper, I will provide an overview of a selected model, discuss how it addresses the nursing metaparadigm, explain how it qualifies as a theoretical framework in nursing, and describe its application in the future Family nurse practitioner role.

1. Provide a succinct overview of the model you have selected and discuss how the selected model addresses the four concepts within the nursing metaparadigm (person, health, nursing, environment).

The model that I have selected is the Roy Adaptation Model. This model addresses the four concepts within the nursing metaparadigm through its focus on the adaptation of individuals to their environment. The person is viewed as a holistic being who is constantly adapting to their environment. Health is defined as a state of adaptation whereby the person is able to maintain their physical, psychological, and social integrity. Nursing is seen as a profession that assists individuals in adapting to their environment, promoting health, and preventing illness. Finally, environment is viewed as the external and internal context that affects the person’s adaptation.

2. Discuss how the selected model qualifies as a theoretical framework within the profession of nursing, and its use within the profession.

The Roy Adaptation Model qualifies as a theoretical framework in nursing due to its ability to provide a broad perspective on the nursing profession. This model is used as a guide for practice, research, and education within the nursing profession. It allows nurses to focus on the individual as a holistic being that is capable of adapting to their environment. Nurses can apply the concepts of this model in their daily practice to assist individuals in adapting to their environment and promote health.

3. Describe how the chosen model can be applied in the future Family nurse practitioner role.

The Roy Adaptation Model can be applied in the future Family nurse practitioner role by providing a framework for holistic care. As a Family nurse practitioner, it is important to consider the individual’s physical, psychological, and social well-being. By utilizing the concepts of this model, a Family nurse practitioner can assist individuals in adapting to their environment, promote health, and prevent illness. This model can be applied in areas such as health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic illnesses.
