Zhou, et al. (2019) aimed to investigate the effect of patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) on the incidence of postoperative pneumonia in a Chinese hospital. The study consisted of a quasi-experimental design with a sample of 166 participants, who were divided into two groups: the experimental group received PCA, while the control group received traditional analgesia. The results showed that the incidence of postoperative pneumonia was significantly lower in the experimental group.
